Members and friends of Windsbreath Celebrations and Retreats in Sackville will present a musical rendition of Gian Carlo Menotti's ‘Amahl and the Night Visitors' on Saturday, Jan. 28 and Sunday, Jan. 29 at 3 and 7 p.m. at St. Mark's Hall in Mount Whatley.
During dress rehearsals held over the weekend, Windsbreath director Marilyn Haugen-Strand said Menotti's production is a moving epiphany story which will inspire and move you.
"The story focuses on Amahl and his mother, whom we call Sarah," she said.
"During the production you will journey with us to a middle-eastern shepherd's hut where you'll meet Amahl and Sarah as well as their mysterious guests and a number of local shepherd families.
"You'll sip hot cider, sample Middle Eastern snacks, savour traditional epiphany bread and cake and be lost for a while under the starry sky while Menotti's music takes you to another world."
The performance features Karen Sears as Sarah and Max Beaver as Amahl, with a supporting cast of characters from throughout the Sackville area.
Mount Allison University music student Taisha Lesser is choral director, Jen Alder musical accompanist while Alisa Haugen-Strand choreographs the production.
