On Sunday, Jan. 25, the Sackville Music Teachers Association (SMTA) sponsored an art and music workshop for Amherst and Sackville residents aged five to 18.
Over 40 enthusiastic young artists and musicians took part in the various workshops which were held at the Sackville United Church throughout the afternoon.
Clinicians Deanna Musgrave and Andrew Miller, both formerly of Sackville, provided a highly engaging and creative workshop for each age level, culminating in murals and individual art pieces created by the participants.
Using live music performed by Miller on the double bass and with electronic sound, the students created lines, shapes and color after discussion and practice with visual artist Musgrave.
The funding for the event was made possible due to the fundraising efforts of many local children in the Sackville and Amherst communities.
The play-a-thon style coffeehouses that they have presented to the public in recent years made these workshops possible.
The next concert sponsored by the SMTA features student talent from the Sackville and Amherst communities.
The concert will be held at Brunton Auditorium at Mount Allison University on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m.
