The town of Sackville is partnering with a newly-established economic development organization in southeast New Brunswick in an effort to boost the region’s technology and health science industries.
Coun. Merrill Fullerton attended the recent launch of Tech South East, a non-profit centre based in Moncton that is working with entrepreneurs, government and the academic community to promote business growth in innovation-based economic development.
Fullerton said the town of Sackville and Mount Allison University are partners, along with Shediac, Moncton, Riverview and Dieppe.
“This is an opportunity for us to network, to access services, and to tap into potential investments in those two key sectors,” he said.
Tech South East’s goal is to support and encourage accelerated growth in the areas of interactive media and health sciences and to market New Brunswick as a place to do business.
Fullerton pointed out that there are already a number of companies operating in Sackville involved in those developing sectors, such as Soricimed Biopharma, and it will be important to foster growth in those industries
