Sackville customers will soon have access to the latest in fibre optic technology for faster Internet service and a more enhanced television viewing experience.
Bell Aliant Inc is preparing to roll out its FibreOp service next week in Sackville, part of the company’s province-wide expansion plan that will see eight more New Brunswick communities come on board by this spring.
"We're excited to continue our FibreOP rollout in New Brunswick," said Andre LeBlanc, vice president of residential markets for Bell Aliant.
LeBlanc said Bell Aliant has been working for several months now on designing and installing the system throughout Sackville, a $1.6-million investment, and is set to go live next week.
In terms of market potential and infrastructure availability, LeBlanc said Sackville was a good fit for the company’s expansion plans for 2013.
“This year, Sackville just looked right to us,” he said.
LeBlanc believes there is plenty of interest in fibre optic service in Sackville and he has no doubt that the demand for it will be high when it starts to be rolled out throughout the next few weeks.
“There is a growing demand everywhere for a faster bandwidth . . . and FibreOP provides customers with the fastest Internet speeds in Atlantic Canada.”
Bell Aliant's 100 per cent fibre-to-the-home network also offers “the best TV product in the market with more than 100 HD channels, the best whole home PVR, and amazing apps for Facebook, Twitter, Galaxie Music and more,” said LeBlanc.
FibreOp is already available in a number of New Brunswick communities including Woodstock, Saint John, Fredericton, Greater Moncton, Bathurst, Grand Falls, Sussex, Edmunston, Hampton and Miramichi. In 2013, the service is being expanded into Sackville, Dalhousie, St. Stephen, Beresford, Petit-Rocher, Tracadie-Sheila, Caraquet and Shippagan.
