Council and staff are attempting to prioritize which recommendations from the town's newly-developed strategic plan should be tackled first.

Mayor Pat Estabrooks said town officials met last month to discuss the list of proposed action items, ones that resulted from the strategic plan document that was developed by Mount Allison professor Michael Fox and his community planning students earlier this winter.

Mayor Pat Estabrooks said town officials met last month to discuss the list of proposed action items, ones that resulted from the strategic plan document that was developed by Mount Allison professor Michael Fox and his community planning students earlier this winter.

Estabrooks said the deliberations were centered on which proposed actions need to take precedence.

She pointed out, however, that council and staff wanted to await the new CAO's arrival before proceeding with any of the proposals.

"We didn't make any decisions, it was just a great discussion," she said.

The mayor said further discussion meetings will be scheduled now that the CAO is in place.

There are 30 action items listed in the plan, everything from developing a multi-year financial plan to moving away from the liaison councillor model to revising council's monthly meeting format to developing a comprehensive communications strategy for the town and implementing a wireless network for the downtown core.
