The Tale of a Town cross Canada tour will be visiting Sackville on Thursday, Aug. 21, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday, Aug. 22, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Their tour focuses on the preservation of main street culture across Canada. Anyone with a good story to tell, historical or modern, can visit their “Storymobile” (a.k.a travel trailer turned mobile recording studio) where they will be collecting oral histories by means of interviews with independent business owners, local heroes, community stakeholders, and neighbourhood residents. The “Storymobile” will be located in the downtown core near the intersection of Bridge and Main Streets.
As it tours, The Tale of a Town - Canada will create downtown storefront installations in the capital city of each province and territory, unique pieces based entirely on the site-specific stories it gathers and compiles. These multimedia shows will merge interview sound bytes, local archives, live music, and theatrical performance. All performances will be developed in collaboration with local professional artists, and presented in association with an impressive list of theatre partners across the country. Stories from this visit might appear in the troupe’s presentation in September in collaboration with Theatre New Brunswick in Fredericton.
Anyone interested in participating can just show up, or contact Ron at 364-4938 for more information.
