The Tantramar Breast Cancer Support Group recently held a very successful fundraiser - the first annual Mother's Day dance.
The well-attended affair was held at the civic centre and organizers were very pleased with the turnout. To date, $4,500 has been raised for the group.
Several more small fundraisers are being planned for throughout the summer.
On June 9, the group will have its last meeting before the summer break. This meeting will be a bit different in that the group will host a 'Pink Party' at the Sackville fire hall.
The 'party' is an opportunity for members of the group to invite their friends and supporters to attend an evening of fun and celebration.
Although there will be a little bit of education and information provided through the use of games, the organizers of the event are trying to make this evening into a celebration.
All of the women in the group have fought a difficult fight and they want to take this opportunity to celebrate their success as well as thank those who have helped them with their battle.
There will be no group meetings through the summer, but members of the support committee are still available to provide other forms of assistance.
Newly-diagnosed patients are encouraged to reach out to the Tantramar Breast Cancer Support Group for any support and assistance they may require.
Anyone looking for more information can contact anyone on the steering committee: Liz Steeves at 364-1904; Cheryl Sears 536-0361; Shawna Hopkins at 536-3612; Monique Barton at 939-2053; or Pat Hicks at 536-9086.
