The board of directors of Live Bait Theatre is continuing to work diligently to find ways to realign and to deal with its new reality. Having vacated its former facility, the biggest challenges will be to find appropriate locations for the various special events and performances, as well as maintaining its visibility and accessibility in the community.

At a recent meeting, much of the discussion centred on tentative long-range plans for the company. The positive comments and enthusiasm felt among this small but mighty group brought forth a sense of optimism and determination that they anticipate will be contagious.

“Our hope is to continue our tradition of offering quality productions and activities that will be entertaining for our supporters as well as profitable for Live Bait,” says vice-chair Jennie DelMotte.

“Our intention is to include a return of the very popular CSI cast, this time replacing the Christmas theme with a spring version.”

Much-loved songstress Janet Crawford is helping to organize Live Bait & Friends, featuring a variety of local singers and musicians.

“The support and encouragement from many folks like Janet has given us the impetus we need to move forward,” adds Delmotte.

The summer will see a Broadway Night produced and performed by the members of the Young Company, and the annual dinner theatre, while in the fall, it is hoped a Mainstage play will be included in the year’s program. And of course the list would not be complete without the much-loved and anticipated Christmas dinner theatre.

“One of our major tasks is to recruit willing workers as board and committee members. We have a contact list already developed, but needless to say, we would be delighted to hear from other folks who can contribute some time and energy to our company, which, by the way, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.

We also welcome input and suggestions from our many patrons regarding our direction and how to get there.”
