The month of March, which is Red Cross Month across Canada, provides us with a special opportunity to remind Sackville residents of the important work the Canadian Red Cross does every day, right here at home.

Whether responding to local disasters like house fires, providing first aid, water safety, or offering violence prevention programs like Beyond The Hurt, the Red Cross is there to assist Sackville when they need help the most.

Over the past century, the Canadian Red Cross has become an integral part of Canadian society and a part of our national fabric.

“We have many amazing, dedicated volunteers and staff who are extremely active in local communities,” said Louise Castonguay, director general, Atlantic for the Canadian Red Cross.

“When a family loses their home to fire and have no place else to go – the Red Cross is right there. When a teacher needs support on how to deal with bullying – the Red Cross is there as well. We’re in the schools, community centres, swimming pools and any other place where we can help improve people’s lives – as an organization, that is our focus.”
