It was a packed house at the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre on Saturday, April 27, as the Sackville Rod and Gun Club hosted its annual sportsman’s supper.

The Sackville Rod and Gun Club held its annual sportsman’s supper on Saturday, April 27, at the Tantramar Veteran’s Memorial Civic Centre, to a sell-out crowd of more than 135 people.

The event opened with a welcome from master of ceremonies Ray Cochrane, followed by a hip of beef meal catered by Laurie Ann Wesselby.

Throughout the evening, a number of draws and raffles were held. Prizes included hotel stays/spa packages from Coastal Inns and Downtown Diner, a men’s raffle for 30 lbs of beef, a 32” television, a whipper snipper, hunting rifle, and $100 Save Easy Gift certificates. In all, more than 45 raffle items were won.

The silent auction offered items ranging from Inuit carvings, to beaver traps, to fishing rods, prints, furniture, rifle scopes and ATV helmets.

The live auction included an antique sign, four cords of firewood, a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey, several prints and a cake.

Proceeds from the fundraiser are used to support events and projects in the Sackville area.
