Earlier this month at Marshview Middle School, there was a competition going on called the “fowl shot.” The “fowl shot” is when two students shoot a tiny rubber chicken from the basketball foul shot line. They have one minute to try and get as many in as they can. The person with the highest score advances.
On Wednesday, Oct. 9, the finals took place. The whole school watched and chanted from the moment the timer started until the final second. In the teacher division, Mr. Falconer and Mrs. Wood-Hicks battled it out, while Jeffrey Lafford took on Tyler Long in the 7/8 division and Grace Farella and Oliver Priemer competed in the 5/6 division. The competition was intense with each match being close but the winners of each division were Mr. Falconer, Tyler Long and Grace Farella.
Each winner had a turkey donated to the Sackville Food Bank in their name. The three turkeys were purchased by money raised from school dances. The two student winners also received a gift certificate to the Sackville Co-op, to help out with their own Thanksgiving dinner. A big thank you to Greta Patterson at the Co-op for the generous donation of the gift cards.
