Sackville's director of tourism and economic development says the town's new directional signs that point visitors to a number of tourist attractions in the area are ineffective and will need a complete makeover.
"Basically, they were poorly designed," said Warren Maddox, who was hired into the tourism and development director position earlier this spring.
"So they're going to have to come down and we're going to have to re-do them."

Maddox said the dark type on the lighter background makes the signs harder to read and the light serif font that was used should have instead been non-serif and bold.
"This is a case of a design that went off the rails," he said.
Maddox didn't indicate how much it would cost to replace the current signs, which were only installed last year, or when they were slated to be redesigned.
But he did say that the new signs, which are meant to direct tourists to local art galleries, museums and more, will hopefully stand out and be much more legible.
"When you're dealing with directional signs, it's better to keep it simple."

I'm sorry but serif fonts are the readable ones. San serif is fine for headlines but not much more. San serif takes the eyes out of your head.
