RCMP investigate theft from Sackville home

On Saturday, Sept. 13, at 4:30 p.m., an elderly woman from Sackville contacted the Sackville RCMP regarding a theft from her home.
A young man had been at her house claiming to work for a chimney company. He told her that her chimney appeared in need of repair and offered to check inside. The man then requested the resident help him by going into the basement to make noise with a hammer while he listened upstairs.

A young man had been at her house claiming to work for a chimney company. He told her that her chimney appeared in need of repair and offered to check inside. The man then requested the resident help him by going into the basement to make noise with a hammer while he listened upstairs. He then attempted to offer a service of repair and left quickly when the resident declined his services.
Soon afterwards, the woman realized that money was missing from her wallet.
The suspect is described as caucasian, early 20s, heavyset, approximately 5'11" tall, and wearing a ball cap, jeans and a dark navy coat. He was driving a dark blue, older model van.
This incident is similar to incidents in the Moncton area last week.
