A fire that destroyed an abandoned garage on Moffatt Lane last Wednesday afternoon is under investigation by local police.
"We are investigating," said Cpl. Don Moore, acting team leader of the Sackville RCMP. "Two young persons were seen in the area (at the time of the fire) so we want to interview them."
Sackville Fire Chief Craig Bowser said the 911 call came in at about 3:30 last Wednesday (Oct. 29) and by the time firefighters arrived on scene, the building was already fully engulfed.
"There wasn't much left," said Bowser.
The local firefighters were able to put out the blaze within minutes despite a strong wind, he said. They also concentrated their efforts on ensuring the flames didn't spread to surrounding properties.
Bowser said the building, which was burnt to the ground, was also located in a wooded area and there were several older trees in the vicinity that were still smoldering the next day.
