A 17-year old male from Sackville, N.B., has been charged with aggravated assault causing second-degree murder in the death of 20-year-old Nathaniel McFadden of Shediac.
The charges were laid against the local teen on Friday afternoon in Moncton Provincial Court. Due to his age, he cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The charges stem from an incident on Thursday, Jan. 8, at 6 p.m., when Shediac RCMP responded to the scene of a fight between two young men at a house in Pointe-du-ChÊne. McFadden was found injured at the scene and later died in hospital.
The 17-year-old was arrested late Thursday night.
In court, the 17-year old waived his bail hearing and was remanded into custody until his next court appearance in Moncton on Feb. 2, 2009, at 9:30 a.m.
