Sackville's town councillors will be switching duties as of next week.
Mayor Pat Estabrooks appointed her councillors to their new liaison roles during council's regular meeting May 11, positions they will take on effective June 1.
Estabrooks said now that the councillors have had at least a year under their belt on town council and in their respective departments, they will now get the chance to see how things operate in the other departments.
The liaison councillors are usually switched around on an annual basis, giving them an opportunity to serve as liaison for several departments during their four-year term.
Councillors are also asked to sit on various committees during their term.
Deputy Mayor Bob Berry will serve on the building committee.
Joyce O'Neil will sit as liaison councillor for the tourism department and for the local chamber of commerce.
Bruce Phinney will switch to the public safety department (RCMP, fire, animal control) and will serve on the new building committee as well as continuing his role with Westmorland Albert Solid Waste.
Mike Tower will be the new liaison councillor for engineering and public works, while also serving on the personnel and bylaw committee, and the building committee.
Virgil Hammock will move over to the parks and recreation department, the civic centre committee, and will also continue serving on the planning commission board.
Margaret Tusz-King will sit on the downtown revitalization committee, the personnel and bylaw committee, and the finance committee.
John Higham has been appointed as chair of the finance committee, and will also serve on the building committee and the Mount Allison-town committee.
Merrill Fullerton will serve as liaison councillor for the community economic development department and will also sit on the health care committee, Renaissance Sackville, and Enterprise South East, as well as the Mount Allison-town committee.
Berry, who was unanimously voted in as deputy mayor by his fellow councillors last year, will continue to serve in that position indefinitely, until such time as council decides to hold a new vote.
