Tantramar MLA Mike Olscamp picked up a new portfolio as New Brunswick Progressive Conservative leader David Alward shuffled his shadow cabinet last week.
"I now also have agriculture and aquaculture; and still have fisheries. Tourism went to Wayne Steeves in Albert County," Olscamp said last Friday.
Prior to the shuffle he had been the Conservative critic responsible for fisheries and tourism.
Olscamp said he was a bit disappointed to lose the tourism portfolio given that he had done a lot of work within it, however moving to other responsibilities does provide a better opportunity to learn about the aspects of even more government departments, he said.

"Personally, I learn every day. If you're going to criticize in the legislature, you have to know what you're talking about and that means you have to get out and talk to a lot of people about the many issues in their area of the province," he said.
He noted that over the past couple years he's come to understand many of the concerns of New Brunswick fishermen; has toured many fish plants and talked with many fishermen around the province.
"There's some help for fishermen coming from the federal government, but there's been nothing from the province. I'm going to be working on that," he said.
"With aquaculture I'm planning on visiting the Cooke Farm down in St. George, and I'm just now trying to arrange a meeting with the head of the Agricultural Alliance next week when I'm in Fredericton. I hope to meet with the heads of the various agricultural groups over the few weeks and months."
Olscamp said it's a balancing act when it comes to dividing time between his critic responsibilities and that of his own constituency.
"You have to make sure you plan your time so you have time for your own constituents; I'm very aware of that and I always make time for the people in my own riding," he said.
