The Acadian Peninsula RCMP responded to a complaint on the weekend that a man was threatening to harm himself and may be in possession of firearms.

At approximately 4:00 a.m. on December 8, 2012, the RCMP responded to a call at a residence in Lagacéville, N.B., near Neguac.  A 23-year-old man fled the residence when police arrived and took off in his vehicle along a trail in the woods near the home.

The RCMP remained on the scene for approximately three hours and at around 7:00 a.m., the man surrendered peacefully.  A firearm and ammunition was found in the woods with the help of the RCMP police dog.  Another firearm including ammunition was also seized from the man's residence.

Charges are pending and the investigation is still ongoing.
