FREDERICTON, N.B. – Kim Daley has been appointed deputy minister of Human Resources. The appointment is effective Feb. 11.

Premier David Alward made the announcement today.

"Kim's education, skill level and extensive government experience will help support the efforts in the department," Alward said. "I am confident that she will work with her other senior colleagues to continue to develop a high quality civil service while we rebuild our province by shifting our efforts to a more focused, efficient and effective system of program and service delivery."

Daley has worked in the New Brunswick government for 28 years, holding several positions in the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure. This has included many senior level positions and her latest role as the assistant deputy minister of corporate services. This was a position with responsibilities for human resources; financial and administrative services; information management and technology; and contract administration. Daley was also responsible for the continuous improvement unit; several black belt initiatives; change management; and productivity and process improvement initiatives.

Alward also thanked acting deputy minister Jane Garbutt.

"I wish to thank Jane for performing a dual role of leading this department and the Department of Finance during the past several months." Alward said. "I am pleased that she will continue to lead the Department of Finance as its deputy minister."
