Only a couple of slight changes will be made this year to the town councillor’s liaison positions.

Sackville’s mayor said recently that, after undertaking her annual review of the liaison roles, she decided not to make any major adjustments to the councillors’ portfolios in 2010, particularly in light of staffing changes and departmental restructuring over the past few months.

“I think we need to look at those and move a little carefully,” said Mayor Pat Estabrooks. “So I recommend that we do not make any changes except for the two new departments that have been approved by council.”

Taking on a liaison role for the new economic development department will be Coun. Merrill Fullerton, while Coun. Virgil Hammock will serve as the new liaison for the community development and programs department.

Joyce O’Neil will remain the liaison councillor for tourism (which will be separated from economic development), while John Higham will continue to serve as finance liaison, Margaret Tusz-King will continue her role in bylaw/personnel, Bruce Phinney will again take on the public safety liaison position, Mike Tower will serve as liaison for public works, and Bob Berry will continue in parks and recreation.
