There’s an app for that.

That’s what Sackville tourism staff could soon be saying to potential visitors if they are successful in advertising the town via a smart phone application.

In a further effort to promote Sackville as a tourism destination, the town is targeting cell phone and laptop users as their latest market.

“We’re looking at increasing our presence through a smart phone application,” said tourism director Rebekah Cant.

Research is showing that more than 60 per cent of visitors today check out their destinations on the Internet before leaving home or as they’re travelling, so Sackville needs to tap into that market, said Cant.

The app would feature a number of Sackville’s tourism highlights, such as the Sackville Waterfowl Park, in a New Brunswick-wide GPS and multi-media tour guide system.
