Tonight’s outdoor skate cancelled

The town of Sackville has had to cancel its outdoor skate tonight at Lillas Fawcett Park, an event that was expected to kick off this weekend’s sixth annual Winterfest. Due to yesterdays’ warm temperatures and rainfall, the ice has broken up in spots and led to open water along the edge of the lake.

However, Winterfest activities at Beech Hill Park tomorrow are still a go. Town staff confirmed earlier today that they had enough snow up at the park to build and groom some sledding hills for Saturday’s event. Activities will also include snow croquet, parachute games, scavenger hunt, wagon rides, maple taffy-making, and more.

Check out this week’s Tribune-Post for a full schedule of events or watch for more information on the town’s website or Facebook page.
