Inmate dies at Dorchester Penitentiary

DORCHESTER, N.B. – On Feb. 6, 2013, at about 8 p.m., inmate Antonio Roussel was found unresponsive in his cell at Dorchester Penitentiary. Correctional officers immediately performed CPR.

Emergency services were notified and arrived at the institution, but were unable to revive the inmate. 

At the time of his death, Roussel, 46, was serving a two-and-a-half year sentence for various offences. His sentence had commenced on April 21, 2011.

Next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. In addition, Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
