Matt Minglewood will once again perform on Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre in Sackville as part of the annual Toys for Tots fundraising concert.
SACKVILLE, NB – Matt Minglewood will make a popular reappearance this Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre in Sackville at the annual Toys for Tots fundraising concert.
“Matt Minglewood is coming back again this year in support of the Tantramar Toys for Tots. The concert on Saturday night is sure to be the event of the year. This is our 25th anniversary of the run so we’re hoping that everyone in the community will lend their support,” chief organizer Mike Purdy said Monday.
Helping to raise funds for families who need a hand, particularly at Christmastime, Matt Minglewood and special guest DC Smith & The Streamliners will rock the civic centre again this year.
Tantramar Toys for Tots is a registered, non-profit charitable organization and annually supports Moncton Headstart, Sackville Christmas Cheer, Port Elgin District Voluntary Action Group, Dorchester Volunteer Association and Amherst “Christmas for Kids” Campaign. In addition, over the years the run has made possible financial contributions to the Sackville Memorial Hospital, Children’s Wish Foundation, Terry Fox Run, Bob Edgett’s Boxing Club, Amherst Accessible Playground Project, Tree of Life, hot lunch programs in the region, Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre, improvements to playgrounds in the area, Sackville athletics, Rare Breed for Rare Disease, Secret Santa, Ronald McDonald House and has supported area families with children who have had serious illnesses.
Also part of this year’s fund-raising initiative for the Toys for Tots program will be raffle for a chance to win two economy class tickets valid for travel to any Air Canada scheduled destination in North America, including Hawaii and Mexico and the Caribbean, donated by the Air Canada Foundation.
Second prize is a Classic FUZZ guitar pedal donated by Purdy Tube Amps, which will be drawn at the start of Minglewoods’ last set during the concert.
“There are limited quantities of these tickets remaining,” Purdy said.
The concert will feature a cabaret-style setup (tables and dance floor) for the evening and will be a licensed event, open to those 19 years and older.
Tickets for the concert are $25 per person, available at Tidewater Books in Sackville, JG Jewellers in Amherst and Frank’s Music in Moncton.
Over the past 25 years the Tantramar Toys for Tots run has raised more than $230,000 and although organizers have never set an annual fund-raising goal, Purdy said this year they would like to reach or surpass the quarter-million dollar mark.
“I think it would be great to reach that financial milestone during our 25th year events. We urge everyone in the area to lend their support; the funds raised through the run each year helps to put smiles on a lot of children’s faces each year,” he said.
