SACKVILLE, N.B. – Sackville Mayor Bob Berry and members of town council will host the annual New Year's Levee on Jan. 1, from 1-3 p.m. at town hall. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The town crier will officially open the event, with remarks to follow from the mayor.

Guests will enjoy refreshments and hors d’oeuvres throughout the afternoon and music provided by Mount Allison student-pianist Jeff Teng.

Sackville's newly-announced poet laureate Marilyn Lerch will do a special reading, her first since being appointed to the post.

Levees are traditionally held to mark the start of another year and to provide an opportunity for people to exchange New Year's greetings and best wishes for the new year, to renew old acquaintances and to meet new friends. It is also said to be an opportunity to reflect on the events of the past year and to welcome the opportunities of the New Year.
