Members of the Sackville Fire Department and the town’s RCMP detachment responded to the scene of an accident on Main Street shortly after 9 p.m. this evening that saw a vehicle leave the road and become submerged in the overflow area that runs off Silver Lake.

RCMP at the scene of the accident said the vehicle was travelling along Main Street heading away from town when it struck the guardrail of the bridge near Main and Church Streets and was launched into the overflow area to the right of the bridge. The lone occupant of the vehicle escaped without injury.

RCMP said they are still investigating the accident, but witnesses said speed was not a factor and it's believed driver distraction may have been at fault. No charges are expected.
