Mount Allison is once again offering a host of camps for youth ages 5-22. Ranging from class day trips to overnight experiences and leadership camps to sports skills and music camps, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Mount Allison’s camps coordinator, Tabatha Carter, organizes the summer camp program. The Town of Sackville provides funding of $4,000 to support the effort.
This is Carter’s first year being involved with the camp program and she says the best part of the job so far has been working with the nine Mount Allison students who make up the camp staff.
“We have an amazing, dedicated, and talented group of young adults working for camps this summer, who have developed and created some really incredible programs,” she says. “The young students who attend the camps say that they hope to come back to Mount Allison to go to university – that is an incredible compliment to the staff.”
The first overnight Explore camp for Grades 5-8 came to campus on June 3 and there will be a number of other Explore groups from the Maritime Provinces throughout the month of June. In July, the university will welcome students from around the world to the Go Global Canada multi-week university experience.
Other summer camps include:
– Adventures (Age 5-9)
– Discovery (Age 10-13)
– Basketball Girls/Boys Camps
– Tennis Skills Camp
– Computer Apps Camps
Two new camps are available this year, including Leadership@MtA from August 5-8 and MTA Camps Got Talent from Aug. 18-22. These camps are both part of the Adventures and Discovery program.
