Dr. Tom Evans, anaesthesiologist at the Sackville Memorial Hospital, proudly displays the new anaesthesia system for the day surgery program.

A new day surgery anaesthesia system for the Sackville Memorial Hospital has arrived on site and is up and running.

Thanks to the generosity of donors, over $93,000 was raised in the Sackville Memorial Hospital Foundation’s It’s the way we Operate Campaign 2013 to purchase this essential technology.

Because of recent advances in anaesthesia technology, this new anaesthesia machine will be safer, more precise, more efficient, and significantly less expensive to operate compared to the machine it is replacing.

Over 900 day surgeries are performed at the SMH each year. There are over 40 different types of orthopedic, plastic, urology and general surgeries offered at the SMH.
