Nominations being sought for Sackville’s Citizen of Year

SACKVILLE, N.B. - The Sackville Lions Club is once again seeking nominations for its annual Sackville Citizen of the Year award.

The award, which will be presented to a deserving local resident during Sackville’s 2014 Fall Fair opening ceremonies on Friday, Sept. 19, is being sponsored again this year by the Sackville Lions Club.

The Lions Club is looking for nominees that have leadership abilities and/or do volunteer work and are involved in their community in a meaningful way. The individual should be someone who ‘stands out.’

Past award winners have included, among others, Doug Oulton, Bill Johnstone, Lou Lambe, Delanor Wheaton, Wallie Sears, the late Bud Doncaster, Derrick Acton, Al Smith and husband-and-wife-winners David and Diane Fullerton.

Anyone is invited to nominate an individual for this award by writing a one-page description of the nominee and e-mailing it to or mailing it to Tammy Stokes, 8 Suncrest Drive, Sackville, N.B., E4L 4L8.  Contact information must be included and the deadline for nominations is Wednesday, Sept. 10.
