Sackville residents are being asked to provide their feedback into the proposed designs for the town’s new logo.
Narrowed down from a field of 15 submissions, three designs have been selected as the top choices and citizens are being given the opportunity to give their input into which they prefer (or don’t) and why.
The new town logo is being created for display on Sackville’s new water tower, which is currently under construction. It will also be used in the future on the town’s flag, letterhead and signs.
“We invite comments from everyone in the community,” said Coun. Virgil Hammock during council’s monthly meeting Monday night.
But voice your opinions soon, he said, because the committee in charge of selecting the community’s new logo needs to make a choice before the water tank is painted at the end of this month.
The committee – which consists of councillors Hammock and Merrill Fullerton, as well as CAO Eric Mourant, assistant director of community economic development/tourism Rebekah Cant and public works director George Woodburn – began the process last month when they asked several local graphic designers to come forward with proposed ideas for the new water tower.
“I think they are all very nice designs,” said Hammock, who pointed out that the major factor in making the top three selections was visibility.
“Some were just too elaborate. This is something you’re going to see from nearly a kilometre away driving at 120 km/hr, so it needs to be legible.”
Coun. Fullerton also pointed out that the proposed logo designs also each include an element that relates to the community’s character.
Comments from the public can be directed to town clerk Rhonda Tower at r.tower@sackville.com or on Sackville’s Facebook page, where depictions of the logos are available for viewing. The conceptual drawings will also be on display at town hall. Deadline for submissions is Wednesday, April 21.
