Town officials will be putting the final touches on the 2009 operational budget over the next few days in preparation for its approval during an expected special council meeting next Wednesday night.
The town received final figures from the province last week on the tax base, assessment costs and unconditional grant figures and staff will be preparing a final draft that will come forward during budget deliberations Monday night and possibly Tuesday. And although final figures have yet to be put together, town council insisted it planned to hold the line on the municipal tax rate for 2009.

And although final figures have yet to be put together, town council insisted it planned to hold the line on the municipal tax rate for 2009.
"I will certainly not be supporting a rate increase," said Coun. Merrill Fullerton.
Mayor Pat Estabrooks also stressed that she would not back a tax hike.
Last month, Sackville's treasurer Michael Beal said he was working on a preliminary draft of the budget and as long as the town saw a four to five per cent increase to its tax base, the rate would not likely go up. Figures released last week from the province show Sackville's tax base will increase by 5.42 per cent.
