Polar Dip 2013

This year's Polar Bear Dip at Palmer's Pond in Dorchester boasted a record 39 participants who chose to ring in the New Year with an icy plunge. Celebrating its 19th year, the event, which took place on Tuesday, Jan. 1, at 1 p.m., is sponsored by the Dorchester Lions Club, with funds raised going to support Bob Edgett’s Boys and Girls’ Club and other local organizations. The local Polar Bear Dip is believed to be the longest-running one in New Brunswick, possibly even in the Atlantic Provinces. Also see the related video. DOHERTY PHOTOS
