Averaging 28 points per game this weekend, Ben Chisholm of the basketball Mounties has been named the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) athlete of the week for his strong performances in two wins over STU on Jan. 12 and UNBSJ on Jan. 13.
In a crucial victory over STU, Chisholm led his Mounties with 22 of the team's 24 points in the first half, to fend off the hometown Tommies with a 48-44 win. He scored 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the clutch victory.
Then in front of hometown Mountie fans on Sunday, Chisholm put 30 points up on the board before the last of the fourth quarter, and pulled in five rebounds before his team took the win 86-48.
A resident of Fall River, N.S, and already a three-time athlete of the week at Mount Allison this year, Chisholm is a past Lockview High School all-star.
Currently leading the ACAA in points per game (19.4), Chisholm was also an all-star at the recent Dyrick McDermott tournament in Halifax. He was the Mounties' MVP last year and a conference all-star in 2011. He is currently in his fourth year of commerce at Mount A.
