AMHERST, N.S. – Sackville’s Mini Titans boys’ team won their second gold medal of the season, going undefeated at the Spring Street Tournament this past weekend in Amherst.
The boys played a solid opening game against CNA with a 51-38 win. It was a great team effort, with almost every player chipping in points. In their second game, the Titans played against Pugwash. Down by two at the half, the boys roared back in the second half to score an astonishing 42 points. The final score was 60-26. Once again it was a solid team effort, with every player hitting the scoresheet for multiple points.
The two wins were enough to send the Titans through to the finals against the host Spring Street Springers. It was a tight game until midway through the second half when the Titans started to open up a lead and use the clock.
The Titans won the championship game 41-30, showing great patience and a smothering defence.
The Titans are now 22-5 for the year and in four tournaments have captured two golds and a silver. With provincials scheduled for later this month the team will be back in the gym to continue working on the details of their game in the hopes of bringing home some hardware from Canterbury.
