The Sackville Archery club will be holding its inaugural meeting, lessons and practice on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 10 a.m. at Marshview Middle School. This event is open to the public.
The launch itself will include a general information meeting by club president Jeffery Teng and executives, and a going over of the rules and regulations. There will also be a section on group lesson plans for the year.
Previously known as the Mount Allison Archery Club, the decision to change the name to the Sackville Archery Club was made by the executive to acknowledge a closer relationship with the community of Sackville.
The club currently operates under the umbrella of Archery Canada and Archery New Brunswick, and much of their work is rendered possible by those associations. The province of New Brunswick provides GO NB funding to bring the sport of archery to the local community.
The Sackville Archery Club is inviting anyone interested in the sport of archery to join, regardless of skill level. The club has a focus on grassroots education and instruction in the sport, while keeping the option open to compete at the regional level or higher. Organizers are dedicated to promoting archery in all its forms, through instruction, and by giving archers of all kinds a safe, welcoming environment to practice.
Normal meetings have a run time of 90 minutes, twice a week, Friday from 6-7:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Instruction on the basics of technique will be given out in group lessons. Individual attention and advice to shooters will be given during the meeting, outside of group lessons.
