Titans rally to tie Amherst Vikings in game 2 of Amherst Chrysler Cross Border Challenge

SACKVILLE, N.B. – Brooke Beale’s shootout goal was the winner as the Tantramar Regional High School Titans defeated the Amherst Regional High School Vikings 4-3 on Saturday to tie their best-of-three Amherst Chrysler Cross Border Challenge at a game apiece.

A night after losing 6-0 in Amherst in Game 1, Beale scored the only goal of the shootout as the Titans rebounded after blowing a two-goal lead late in the third period.

Drew Arsenault gave Tantramar a 2-0 lead on a pair of first period goals while Destin Zoellner also scored.

Stephen Belyea opened the scoring for Amherst late in the second period before Brody Deegan had a pair of third period goals to send the game into overtime.

Both teams had several great changes in the five-minute overtime period, including a five-on-three power play for the Titans early in the extra frame.

Kyle Lowerison had an assist for Tantramar while Belyea, Justin Leach and Madison Colford added assists for Amherst.

On Friday, Belyea and Brad Black each scored twice as the Vikings won the opener 6-0 with Evan MacKenzie earning the shutout.

Bailey Embree and Jesse Gouchie also scored for Amherst and added two assists. Colford had one assist.

The third and deciding game will be played following the conclusion of March Break in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
