Obstacle racing event to make East Coast debut July 12
Ski Wentworth will play host to the Reebok Spartan Race tomorrow, July 12 , marking the debut of the obstacle racing event on the East Coast.
WENTWORTH, N.S. – The Reebok Spartan Race will be on the East Coast for the first time on Saturday, July 12 for the ground-breaking family oriented sprint race (only 5 km with 15-20 obstacles) at Ski Wentworth.
The Reebok Spartan Race is designed to test participants’ resilience, strength, stamina, and ability to face adversity.
“The unique and safest obstacle course will demand every ounce of strength, ingenuity, and animal instinct you thought you lost centuries ago,” said Selica Sevigny, Canadian co-founder of the Spartan Race, Inc. “Course details are held in secrecy until competitors meet them face to face. This year more than ever we are also focusing on kids and their families.”
Who is a Reebok Spartan Race competitor? Everyone, really – men, women, students, seniors and back bigger and better for another year kids. The mission is to inspire children to develop a love for fitness at an early age. The Junior Spartan obstacle course races of 1-2 km are for kids four to 13 years of age and are filled with a variety of obstacle styles and amounts tailored just for them. Each child receives a finisher's medal and Spartan T-shirt.
“Reebok is proud to be a partner of the Reebok Spartan Race,” said Dan Aversa, fitness and training manager at Reebok Canada. “Both brands share similar philosophies about becoming the very best person one can be, so the partnership was a natural fit. We have developed some exciting new products for obstacle course racing; pioneer products that are game-changers in this fitness space.”
The Reebok Spartan Obstacle Race Series includes the sprint (5 km with 15-20 obstacles), the super (12 km with 35 obstacles) and the ultimate test of mental and physical endurance the beast (20+ km with 45 obstacles).
