The Sackville community, including high school students and basketball players who knew the seven Bathurst students killed in a horrific crash on the highway just after midnight on Friday, are mourning the loss of the young lives which were taken much too soon. This message on the sign at the local civic centre was just one of the ways in which the community showed its respect for the students on Wednesday, the day of the students' funeral which is expected to draw thousands of family and friends to the K.C. Irving Arena in the small town of 13,000. Students in the local area schools also wore red and black (Bathurst's school colours) to school on Wednesday, with basketball players also donning their jerseys, in a show of solidarity and respect for the teens who died when the van they were driving in slid in front of a transport truck.
