The Sackville Skating Club hosted the 2007 Skate Canada New Brunswick Section Spring Skate 2007 on April 14-15, an event that attracted skaters from all regions in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
This was the first time in over 10 years that the club hosted a competition. From all reviews this was a very successful competition.
The Sackville Skating Club received generous support for this event including the hard work of the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre staff; the Town of Sackville for agreeing to keep the ice in two extra weeks; and the Sackville seniors club, who helped out with the admissions desk, boutique and hospitality room.
Local skaters did well throughout the weekend: including Jonathan Bradet-Legris, who came in first in the pre-preliminary mens division; Maggie Estabrooks, who earned first place in the pre-preliminary ladies B; Carly Cousins, who came in fifth in the senior bronze ladies division; Gabrielle Giroux came in sixth in the juvenile ladies and ninth in the short B ladies; Emily Jarvis came in 10th and Kristy Wry came in 13th in the pre-preliminary ladies B division.
