PORT ELGIN, N.B. – Port Elgin will spread some holiday cheer this weekend as the village gets set to host its Santa Claus parade.
Businesses, groups, schools, bands, walkers and animals of all kinds are all encouraged to join in the parade this Sunday evening, Nov. 19. The parade gets under way at 6:30 p.m. with line up starting at the wharf on Station Street at 5:30 p.m.
Organizers of the parade are inviting participants this year to have their entries include ‘lots of lights and loud music’ to get the crowd into the festive spirit.
Elves will be collecting non-perishable food items for the PEDVAC food bank throughout the event.
Following the parade, everyone is invited to come and visit Santa Claus at 1 East Main Street for a treat and a talk with Santa. Don’t forget to bring your letters.
There will also be free wagon rides after the parade as well as a bonfire on Main Street, weather permitting.
Local stores and restaurants will also be having lots of specials throughout the night.
