SACKVILLE, N.B. – After two hugely successful Pride Parades in 2015 and 2016, the Mount Allison Students’ Union and the Town of Sackville are once again partnering with dedicated community volunteers to present the third annual Sackville Pride Parade on Oct. 12, 2017.

This year’s parade promises to be the biggest yet, as the Mount Allison Student Union has been actively engaging with other Pride Parade organizers throughout the Maritimes to attract even more people to Sackville’s celebration.

The event will include distinguished guest speakers at the Mount Allison University Chapel at 5:30 p.m., followed by the raising of the Rainbow Flag. The parade will then set out towards Sackville town hall at 5:45 p.m. via York Street and Main Street, where the Rainbow Flag will once again be raised.

Following the parade and flag raising at town hall, everyone is invited to join event organizers at the Bill Johnstone Memorial Park for live music, a fundraising barbeque from Shinerama, cake and plenty of family fun.

Organizers are urging anyone who is planning to attend the events to wear their rainbow colours and come out to the event to celebrate, raise awareness and show support for the 2SLGBTQA+ community.  Last year’s event attracted over 200 people and organizers are hoping to see that number double in 2017.
