SACKVILLE, N.B. – EOS is looking for at least 15 drafty homes in the Tantramar area that could benefit from a free draft-proofing party this fall.

The parties are for lower income homeowners and their party guests who would like to learn how to seal air leaks. A short registration form is required in order to provide information about the house. It can be found online at http://eosecoenergy.com/en/party/, at the EOS office, or at Port Elgin and Dorchester village offices. Interested homeowners can also call the EOS office at 536-4487 and fill out a form over the phone.

The parties are free and EOS provides all materials, tools and party food, as well as a certified home energy advisor who will teach everyone where and how to seal air leaks. The homeowners, guests, energy advisor and EOS staff will all work together during the three-hour parties to draft proof the houses. If interested homeowners aren’t able to invite guests, EOS can supply volunteers.

“Last year’s draft proofing parties resulted in an average 17 per cent reduction in air leaks and homeowners spent less money on their power and heating bills,” explains EOS executive director Amanda Marlin.

The project is being funded by Environment and Climate Change Canada’s Eco-Action grant and the Westmorland-Albert Community Inclusion Network.

For more information, contact EOS at 506-536-4487 or eos@nb.aibn.com. Corporate businesses interested in sponsoring a party are encouraged to get in touch with EOS as well.
