The popular event will be serving up racks of ribs, chicken, pulled pork, blooming onions and more this weekend.
Last year about 20,000 pounds of ribs and 6,000 pounds of chicken were sold and Yarmouth sales exceeded other Maritime locations.
The professional ribbers travel on annual Ribfest circuits each year. For 2017, the ribbers are competing during the event for the people’s choice award and several other categories such as the best rib sauce award. Ballots are available on site and the public is encouraged to vote for their favourite team.
Each ribber has their own menu posted in front of their mobile kitchen and smoker on wheels. Prices range from $9 to $23. Attendees can purchase full, half or third racks, pulled pork or barbecued chicken.
Taters, lemonade, slushies, vendors, a licensed beer garden and entertainment for all ages are part of the event.
The event is a fundraiser for the Yarmouth Mariners Junior A Hockey club.
