MEMRAMCOOK, N.B. – Megan Mitton will be the Green candidate for the riding of Memramcook-Tantramar in next year’s election. She was acclaimed by the local Green party members Wednesday night at the Monument Lefebvre in Memramcook.

''Megan Mitton is the perfect candidate to represent the people of Memramcook-Tantramar in the Legislative Assembly,” said David Coon, leader of the Green party and MLA for Fredericton South. “Growing up with an Acadian mother and anglophone father, her heritage well reflects the make-up of the riding. And Megan’s experience as a councillor for the Town of Sackville has prepared her to jump right into the role of MLA to represent the interests of the people of her riding, and to help her constituents, the day after the election.”

Mitton said, “There is a real opportunity to elect Green MLAs in the upcoming election, and I hope to be one of them. There are serious issues that current and previous governments have not adequately addressed, from our broken health care system to our changing climate. I plan to hold them to account and make sure the interests of the people of Memramcook-Tantramar are heard in Fredericton.”

Mitton is the seventeenth Green party candidate to be nominated. Read more about Mitton at http://www.greenpartynb.ca/memramcooktantramar.
