Police at the scene said it appeared the woman lost control of the bike just as it approached a guardrail on the right side of the highway. The bike was heading west towards Digby but ended up on its side facing east close to the guardrail.

Bridgetown Volunteer Fire Department was called to the scene at 4:49 p.m. and stopped traffic on Highway 101 at the Centreville exit. The road was closed for about half an hour.

A collision analyst was consulted and Annapolis District RCMP officers took photos and made measurements of the scene.

The seriousness of the woman’s condition is not known. A police officer at the scene said the woman was being taken to Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Middleton but upon re-assessment there could be transferred.

Police and fire had just cleared that scene and reopened the highway when they were called to a second accident about 10 kilometres east of the first scene – also involving a motorcycle. That call came in to Bridgetown fire at 6 p.m. RCMP and EHS are also currently at that scene.
