MONCTON, N.B. – A 31-year-old American man has pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention in connection with the crash that claimed the life of Nova Scotia RCMP officer Cost. Francis Deschênes on Sept. 12, 2017 in Memramcook, N.B.

Driver charged in connection with crash that claimed the life of RCMP officer in Memramcook

Const. Deschênes died at the scene of the crash while providing aid to motorists by helping to change their flat tire. Two other people were injured and taken to hospital.

Nova Scotia RCMP officer killed in traffic collision near Memramcook, NB

The guilty plea was given to the court on Dec. 15, 2017, by the lawyer representing Vasiliy Meshko from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. A second charge of failing to move over was withdrawn by the Crown.

The judge has scheduled sentencing to Dec. 22, 2017, at 1:30 p.m.
