Irene Leona Lane

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Irene Leona Lane, age 86, of Melrose. Irene passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, March 16, 2018. Born in Shemogue, NB, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Sylvia (Seamans) Niles. She was a member of St. Bartholomew's Church. She was an avid quilter and cooking was her passion. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be dearly missed by son; Donald (Cecile Blackwood) Cormier, Moncton; 2 daughters; Sharon (Vernon) Wall, Upper Cape, Darlene (Terry) Russell, Dieppe; daughter-in-law Shauna Lane, Amherst, NS; 8 grandchildren, several great and great great grandchildren; brother; Bliss (Mickey) Niles, Moncton. Predeceased by her husband Albert Lane, 2 sons; Merton Lane and Kevin Lane, 3 grandsons and 1 great grandson, brother John Niles; sisters Emma Trenholm and Bessie Noonan. Arrangements have been entrusted to Jones Funeral Home, Sackville and Port Elgin, NB. (506-538-2241). Visiting hours were held at Irene's home, 3592 Route 16, Melrose, NB on Monday from 2 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass took place at St. Bartholomew's Roman Catholic Church, Melrose, on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 11 a.m. Father Charles Broderick officiated. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery in the spring. Those wishing to make a donation in Irene's memory may do so to the Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice.
