Vera Irene (Spence) Allen

It is with sadness that the family of Vera Irene (Spence) Allen, wishes to announce her passing on March 24th, 2018. Born on September 12, 1923, Vera was the daughter of the late Sylvester Spence and Leona (Trenholm) Spence. Vera was also predeceased by her husband, Myers Allen, and her brothers Allan, George, and Coleman. Vera was born in Saskatchewan, but lived most of her life in the Bayfield and Murray Corner area. She spent many hours in the kitchen preparing meals and baking cookies and pies that were enjoyed by all, including her grand- children. Vera enjoyed eating out, shopping, driving her car (fast), reading mysteries and watching TV, but most of all Vera enjoyed visits by her family and friends. Vera will be dearly missed by Betty (John), George (Patricia), Roger (Joy), her ‘special sister’ Ruby, 5 grand- children, 3 great grand- children, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family would like to express their appreciation to the kind staff of Pine Grove Nursing Home in Fredericton, where Vera was well cared for over the last 2 years. And to the nurses and doctors at the DECH in Fredericton who comforted Vera in her last days. In keeping with Vera’s wishes, there will be no visitation. There will be an informal celebration of life at Jones Funeral Home's Port Elgin location, 3 West Main Street, Port Elgin NB (506-364-1300) at a later date. Those wishing to make a donation may do so to a charity of the donor’s choice.
