Anyone wondering what to do for New Year’s Eve needs to look no further! The Performers’ Company will be putting on a comedy revue entitled Streuth! in late December and early January 2014, including a New Year's Eve performance. Many of the Company’s favourite performers will be returning to the stage but there will also be performances by some new-to-the-cast faces many of whom are well known faces in the community.

The evening will be a collection of short comedy sketches and the main attraction, Streuth, a take-off of a badly staged one-act whodunit. As well, local singer and songwriter, Janet Crawford will be performing at three of the performances and Isaac Adams will be entertaining the audiences on piano at all five shows. The one-act play shows all the worst aspects of “bad” theatre – people cast in the wrong roles, performers forgetting their lines, phones that ring at the wrong time, and people who should be on stage but are not.  Some of the comedy sketches are from the repertoire of the British comedy duo Peter Cook and Dudley Moore.

The Company had a very successful run of the play Enchanted April last summer at the brand new Maritime Conference Centre. The newly-opened centre provided an intimate setting for the play about four very dissimilar women from England who rent a villa in Italy for a month long vacation, which changes their lives.

The Performers’ Company is offering people in the community an opportunity to get out and do something during the Christmas/New Year holidays when there is often little going on. It will be a fun way to celebrate New Year’s Eve, too, by enjoying the show and toasting to the New Year with a complimentary glass of bubbly.

The dates of the performances are Dec. 30 at 7 p.m., Dec. 31 at 7 and 10 p.m., and Jan. 1 at 2 and 7 p.m. at the Maritime Conference Centre on Wright Street in Sackville.  Visit The Performers’ Company website at: www.performerscompany.com for details.
