Sackville Fire & Rescue offering e-transfer option for those unable to purchase ticket in person

SACKVILLE, N.B. – The countdown is on for this year’s Sackville Fire & Rescue truck draw fundraiser, with only days remaining to purchase a ticket for a chance to win a 2018 Ram 1500 ST quad cab 4x4.

And, thanks to a new twist this year, if the 2018 grand prize winner isn’t in the market for a truck, they will be able to apply the value of the truck to any vehicle line the Allen Auto Group carries. In addition to choosing a vehicle of equal or lesser value, the winner could choose a vehicle of higher value, as financing options are available. If a vehicle of lesser value is chosen, remaining funds go back to the fire department for a new training facility.

A total of 3,500 tickets are printed for the annual fundraiser. If 2,800 tickets are not sold by the draw date, which is Sept. 22 at 7 p.m., the prize will be a 50/50 draw.

Now in its 13th year, the annual fundraiser has never gone to a 50/50, and department member Laura Thurston is certain this year will be no different, despite the fact ticket sales were down slightly last week compared to the previous year.

“I am confident,” she said. “Our community always pulls through for us.”

Thurston added the department picked up an additional five corporate sponsors on Friday, which significantly boosted sales.

With the draw only days away, fire department members will be putting on a major push between now and Saturday, setting up at the Main Street Esso to sell tickets.

Anyone unable to purchase a ticket in person can contact Thurston.

“I’m doing e-transfers for people who aren’t able to actually physically get their ticket,” she explained. “I can send them a photo of their ticket stub … so there is that option.”

The department will also be hosting its annual open house Thursday evening, beginning at 6 p.m.

“We’re inviting the community to come out and bring their families and we’ll have tours of the station available, showcase all of our equipment and we’ll be selling truck draw tickets. So we invite everybody to stop in on Thursday evening.”

As in previous years, fire department members will also be selling tickets during Saturday’s Sackville Fall Fair Main Street Parade. New for this year, the Allen Auto Group will have at least one vehicle from each manufacturer available to be won in this year’s parade.

For more information on this year’s truck draw fundraiser, or to take advantage of the e-transfer option, contact Thurston at 506-871-4074 or e-mail her at ljaytrav@yahoo.ca.
